Before you ask: Google’s review rules
- Never offer discounts, gifts or freebies in exchange for a review — Google removes incentivised reviews and can suspend profiles.
- Ask every customer, not just the happy ones. Filtering who gets asked (“review gating”) is against Google’s policy.
- Do not send customers to a form that decides whether they reach Google. The QR must lead straight to the review box.
- Reply to every review you receive, positive or negative.

How the link is built
Every Google Business Profile has a place ID. Appending it to search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid= gives the official “write a review” URL that opens the rating dialog for that profile — on desktop, Android and iPhone, with or without the Maps app.
Place IDs are stable but not permanent: Google can issue a new one after a profile merge, a re-verification or a major address change. If a printed QR code stops working, come back, search your business again and reprint.
The QR code, the poster and the PNG/SVG files are generated locally in your browser with the open-source qrcode library. Only the business search talks to our API; nothing you design here is uploaded or stored.
