We have spent many years doing local SEO for real businesses: dentists, plumbers, restaurants, clinics, agencies with dozens of locations. In that time the industry filled up with subscription dashboards that charge monthly for checks you can do in a minute, and with advice that makes a Google Business Profile sound like rocket science.
We decided to fix the part we can fix. Every tool on this site does one job well, uses the same public data a customer sees, shows its method, and is free. Every guide is written by a practitioner, says what Google actually documents versus what we observe, and links to the tool that lets you act on it.

Search no longer ends at the map pack. People ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity who to call, and those assistants lean on the same signals Google does: a complete profile, real reviews, consistent data, clear categories. A business that can measure both should not need two paid subscriptions to do it.
So the hub covers both: tools for Google Search and Maps, tools for AI answers visibility, and guides that connect them. No card, no account, no upsell — not as a launch offer, as the point.

Who we are
A small team of local SEO specialists
Locan is built and maintained by a small team of local SEO specialists based in Europe who have ranked local businesses across the US, the UK, Australia and Europe for many years — in-house, at agencies and independently. The tools started as internal scripts we ran for clients; the guides are the explanations we kept writing in emails. We put both online because the questions were always the same and the answers should not cost anything.

How this is funded
We don't. That is the point.
The tools cost little to run: they read public Google data and use AI models sparingly, and the site is static. We cover that ourselves and keep costs down with fair daily limits per visitor instead of paywalls.
There are no ads, no affiliate links to software we would not use, no lead forms feeding an agency sales team, and no data sold. If you want to help, use the tools, tell a business owner who is being upsold, and send us corrections when we get something wrong.
